In recognition of Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, commemorating the victims of the 1989 Montreal massacre, YWCA Banff is hosting a luncheon event, From Awareness to Action on Thursday, December 5th at the Canmore Opera House.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Lana Bentley, registered Social Worker and Director of Program Operations at YW Calgary. Lana will share practical information to educate and empower individuals with tools to address violence in their own communities.
From defining language – what is “gender-based violence”? – to identifying the behaviours that contribute to a culture of violence against women, the interactive presentation aims to expand the audience’s understanding of violence, dispel commonly held myths, and provide an opportunity for the audience to ask questions.
