On Friday Sept. 12th 200 hundred men and boys will take to downtown Banff donning high heels and an important message for the 6th annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes. The event raises funds, friends and awareness for domestic violence prevention programs offered in local elementary and secondary schools and throughout the Bow Valley.
Over the past 5 years the men of Banff and Canmore have walked more than 750 miles and fundraised almost $200,000 in pursuit of ending family violence in our communities. So far in 2014 we have 140 men registered and $11,500 of our $55,000 campaign goal raised. But we still need your help.
New to this year’s event is our online silent auction, which has more than 40 items donated by local businesses. Take a look at our Facebook group here to browse and bid in the auction, which runs until the end of the month.
Another way you can support Walk A Mile is to enjoy a pint of the new Walk A Mile Ale, brewed by our presenting sponsors the Banff Ave. Brewing Co. $1 from every pint or bottle sold goes toward the campaign goal.
Please join us on Friday Sept. 12th at Noon in Central Park when guys from all over Banff and Canmore walk with us in solidarity as we stand up against violence in our communities.
