Some ideas to get you started
You can do almost anything to raise money for a good cause. Here are just a few ideas to inspire your own challenge.
Move for the YWCA
Run • Walk • Jog • Swim • Cycle • Hike • Paddle • Ski • Snowshoe • Dance• Work Out
Decide on how many steps, miles or minutes of movement you want to achieve either daily, weekly or monthly. Can be done outdoors or indoors. Like to get your steps in with friends? Put a team together and go even further!
Dedicate your Day
Birthdays • Anniversaries
Make your special occasion extra special by raising funds for an important cause. Invite loved ones to make a donation in lieu of a gift, or hold a party event to raise funds.
Virtual Party / Virtual Soiree / Un-Gala
Spend quality time among friends and family while supporting a worthy cause – together. Get creative by inviting guests to your virtual ‘dinner party’, ‘cocktail hour’, or ‘costume party’. You may consider getting together with your ‘bubble’ (aka. cohort) while following the Alberta Health Services guidelines: https://www.alberta.ca/restrictions-on-gatherings.aspx#Cohort_groups
Out of your Comfort Zone
Set a fundraising goal and commit to doing something wild (i.e. shaving your head, jumping into cold water, etc.) when you achieve it. Don’t forget to share photos/videos with your supporters!
Crafter-noon
Build something • Sew/Knit/Crochet • Draw/Paint •
Do something creative and stay connected with your friends and family, while raising funds for the YWCA.
Skill Share Challenge
Lead an online or socially distanced class by donation and help others learn a new skill or engage in self-care. Yoga, cooking, photography, Pilates, dance, drawing/painting, etc.
Movie Marathon / Watch Party
Collect donations and host a virtual movie marathon among friends. Use an app like Netflix Party to sync start times and share a chat window where friends and family can connect in real time.
“Show” Your Support
Musical Performance • Theatre • Live Painting • Dance • Gymnastics • Poetry
Use your musical, theatrical or other artistic talents to raise funds for the YWCA! Social media apps and live streaming technology make it easy to showcase your talent from the comfort of your own home.
Game Day Challenge
Raise pledges and play board games/cards/trivia games for an extended period of time or host an online video game tournament with friends.
