It’s the moments of warmth that connect us during the holidays. For some individuals and families in our community, the holidays can present added challenges to seeking safety and comfort amidst financial and social pressures.
When you donate to YWCA Banff you help alleviate these challenges, allowing all those accessing our services, including women and families to feel the warmth of the holiday season.
Our goal is to raise $60,000 to support our critical programs including emergency shelter, affordable housing, services for anyone who has experienced sexualized or domestic violence and their support people, and community education programs to build a violence-free Bow Valley.
Our Wishlist Fund helps us purchase household and personal items needed by our clients. When you donate to our Wishlist Fund you are helping individuals and families access items that are often taken for granted but can provide the comfort of a home cooked meal, a cozy place to sleep, or a safe place to connect.
The needs of clients are varied, that’s why monetary donations help us to prioritize what clients need when they arrive on site. We will not be accepting physical item donations at this time.
Examples of frequently used items and their costs include:
Sometimes when we think of shelter, we picture a one-night stay, but it can take time to move through a crisis. The average length of stay at YWCA Banff’s emergency shelter is between 10 and 20 nights. That’s why our campaign is raising funds to support individuals accessing a 10-night stay at YWCA Banff.
Your gift could provide an individual staying at YWCA Banff with groceries for approximately 10 days. Many people accessing our services have few choices available to them. YWCA Banff provides clients with grocery cards as a small act of self-determination, so they can choose how to nourish themselves.
Your gift could provide up to 10 hours of wrap-around support for an individual accessing our services. YWCA Banff’s breadth of support includes supportive counselling, job resources, housing navigation, community referrals, etc. and is designed to meet people where they are on their journey. Your donation can help an individual move towards healing, health, and wellness.
Your gift could provide approximately 10 nights of emergency shelter, ensuring an individual has a warm and safe space to find comfort and rest their head. More than just a bed, shelter stays include an array of supports such as food, transportation to additional services, counselling, housing navigation, safety planning, and personal goal setting.
