To our generous sponsors, donors, artists, Chefs, committee members, colleagues, media, and our guests – thank you for making the fifth annual VINEart Gala Auction an enormous success!
We are delighted to announce that this year’s evening of inspiration and generosity raised more than $125,000!
Proceeds from VINEart benefit the day-to-day operations of our existing shelter program as well as ongoing planning for the Higher Ground Project.
On behalf of the YWCA Board, staff, and our VINEart committee, thank you for helping to build a safe and caring community for all Bow Valley residents.
VINEart Gala Auction

Five years! It’s been five years since YWCA Banff launched the vision for the VINEart Gala Auction with three bold goals:
1. build awareness around domestic violence and the impacts on local women and children;
2. raise funds to assist with operating costs for the existing shelter; and
3. begin the process to secure purpose-build shelter and transitional housing for families fleeing violence
On the first goal, as much as we wish we were immune, the existence of domestic violence in our beautiful Bow Valley, is a reality that the community understands. Thanks to the success of VINEart, awareness exists in new ways and we continue to build and strengthen this even further.
The past five years have seen wonderful growth at the Bow Valley Women’s Emergency Shelter, with the expansion of shelter capacity to include an additional two spaces dedicated for families or individuals, thanks to the support of VINEart. With other funding and generous donations, we have extended our shelter program services by establishing two supportive, transitional housing units for women and families in need of housing beyond emergency shelter. We couldn’t have achieved this without you! Our long-time sponsors and partners have been key to our success.
And finally, we are well on our way towards our third goal, Bow Valley Higher Ground Project. Targeted to open in Canmore in 2021, Higher Ground is a collaborative, purpose-built hub that includes emergency shelter, transitional housing, services for children and support programs that better meet the long-term needs and wellbeing of women, children, and Bow Valley residents experiencing violence and associated vulnerabilities.
Our organization thrives thanks to the generosity of our community friends and partners, especially those who have given support year after year. If you haven’t had the opportunity to partner with us yet, we welcome you with open arms and hope you’ll join us as we turn five!
